 Latest Update - January 10th 2026
Venezuela Strikes

In the aftermath of recent strikes in Venezuela, many American travelers have expressed concerns about the safety and stability of nearby countries. However, it is important to clarify that these events have not affected Cuba in any way. The situation in Cuba remains calm, stable, and perfectly normal, making it a safe and enjoyable destination for U.S. visitors.

Cuba continues to maintain its reputation as one of the most welcoming and culturally rich nations in the Caribbean. The country’s warm hospitality, vibrant music, colorful architecture, and historical landmarks create an unforgettable travel experience. The Cuban people are known for their friendliness and openness toward visitors, including those from the United States, and they take pride in sharing their culture and traditions.

Despite misconceptions that sometimes emerge due to regional events, traveling to Cuba poses no risk as a result of the strikes in Venezuela. The two nations are geographically and politically distinct, and the unrest in Venezuela has not spilled over into Cuba or affected the island’s day-to-day life. Airports, hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions across Cuba continue to operate normally, welcoming travelers from around the world.

For Americans seeking an authentic cultural adventure, Cuba remains an excellent choice. Whether you are exploring Old Havana, visiting tobacco farms in Viñales, or relaxing on the beaches of Varadero, you can expect a safe, enriching, and memorable experience.

In short, nothing has really changed in Cuba—it continues to be a safe, peaceful, and inviting destination for U.S. citizens eager to discover its charm.

Update - December 3rd 2025

The travel ban officialized by the US administration doesn’t impact travel to Cuba for US citizens; it only suspends visas and restricts travel to the US for non-resident citizens from the countries affected by the

There have been no alterations for United States citizens, who may continue to travel to Cuba legally and without restrictions under the "Support for Cuban People" category as designated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Update - August 29th 2025

Nothing has changed with the new administration

Following the various decrees signed
on January 20th by the new administration, practically nothing has changed regarding the possibility of traveling to Cuba for American citizens.

President Trump reinstated the designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism, reversing a decree made just days prior by President Biden to remove Cuba from this list. This shift effectively returns policies to their status from 2020, prior to Biden’s brief lapse in designation.

It was former Trump administration that placed Cuba on this list of countries at the end of the previous term in 2020, a decision widely criticized as lacking substantive justification beyond political motives.

Regardless of its designation, American citizens have continued to travel to Cuba  under the "Support for the Cuban People" OFAC travel category, which remains the legal option for U.S. travelers aiming to engage with the island's culture and society while supporting locals.
